“There is definitely a sensual aspect to Soft Touch - the fluidity of it is about exploration and connection rather than an end in itself. I try to be contemplative in painting, to have a certain calmness in the image...to create a subtle space that on reflection has drama or contradiction permeating through it. It’s about the mystery of it, the power it has to unsettle us and eventually where it takes us when we can’t figure it out.”
